Here it comes. Along with the heat comes the summer produce…eggplant, cucumbers, peppers and most frequently requested, tomatoes. Before too long, we’ll have boxes and boxes of them, all kinds, sizes, shapes and colors. But when?
Realistically, not until August will we see abundant tomatoes.
Until then, they are being carefully tended. Paul races through the last planting (1000 transplanted in June) with his cultivating tractor, knocking out the weeds. The rows of cherry tomatoes that were planted in the greenhouse in the spring have “raised the roof”. The first field planting shows ripe fruit peeking through abundant foliage.
